  11. Scion Genealogist is a specialised database for keeping track of
  12. genealogical information. It features a full, easy to use, Intuition
  13. interface. Scion v5 is a MAJOR upgrade to earlier versions. See the
  14. "Scion.guide" help file for details on what's new.
  15.  
  16. The programme has been written in a totally secular manner, has no
  17. checking on sex (to allow for "unconventional" relationships), and has no
  18. name checking (to allow for adopted children).
  19.  
  20. The printed reports include descendant and pedigree charts, personal details
  21. reports, family group sheets, index lists of people and families, and many
  22. others. See the "Scion.guide" help file for details on the new reports.

  24. Free-form note files can be created and viewed, IFF-ILBM pictures can be
  25. viewed, and IFF-8SVX sound files can be played - all from within the
  26. programme.

  28. Other features include dynamic on-screen ancestor and descendant charts,
  29. extensive on-line context-sensitive help, powerful searching and filtering,
  30. and multiple ARexx ports with an extensive command set (see "ScionRexx.Guide"
  31. for further information).

  33. Locale support for alternative languages.
  34.  
  35. Can be used with PAL or NTSC and third-party graphics cards. Works with
  36. floppy and/or hard disk drives, although a hard disk drive is STRONGLY
  37. recommended.

  39. Database stored in RAM for maximum speed. Memory usage typically 50% less
  40. than earlier versions of Scion.

  42. Loads databases created with any earlier version of Scion or "ArJay
  43. Genealogist".

  45. Maximum number of people per database = limited only by available memory
  46. Maximum number of families per database = limited only by available memory
  47. Maximum number of marriages per person = 10
  48. Maximum number of children per family group = 40

  50. REQUIREMENTS

  52. A minimum of 1 Mbyte of RAM is required. 4 Mbytes of RAM is recommended.

  54. Scion will use any "virtual" memory allocated by virtual memory managers such
  55. as GigaMem (© Copyright 1991,1992 Christian A Schnedier, F Burgel, Relog AG)
  56. and VMM (© Copyright 1994 Martin Apel).

  58. Kickstart/Workbench v2.04 (or later) required. Version 2.10 (or later)
  59. required for locale support (alternative languages).

  96.     or family group. Note attachments can be (optionally) printed
  97.     with "Personal Summary" or "Family Group Sheet" reports.

  100.     There is a new menu option that lets you query the blood
  101.     relationship between any two people.
